2 kids in a LFS

i was walking through my LFS the other day and was walking by two thuggish white teens and overheard this conversation:
kid 1- "dude i want a piranha!"
kid 2- "no way dude, why?"
1- "it would be bad ***!"
2- "what? your crazy! it would eat you!"

i just smirked out loud, shook my head and walked away. it just was funny to me.
 
one time, i saw these guys who were asking the stupidist questions about fish i have ever heard. one was, " Are cichlids agressive". not kidding

uh ok, atleast they were asking questions for knowledge rather than assuming a fish was a killer because of movies and the media blowing things way out of proportion. it wasnt funny to me that the kids were "dumb" fishwise, it was funny because of all the hype that has been built up around piranha, which are actually pussycats.

Piranha wouldn't be a big seller without that hype. Soon most will realize it was hype, while others will still believe that hype for a long time. It doesn't suprise me you heard that though. Go to a piranha forum sometime.. there are literally thousands of people who think not too far from that, or worse try to do things to support the fact that they own the most super duper predatory fish evar!

But I too have heard some "dumb" people in a LFS before. But most of general public isn't as educated on fishkeeping and are happy being ignorant to needs/what's good for a fish/what size their fish get.
 
I was looking around mine and these 3 kids that I knew came in looking at snakes. Went something like this;
Kid1: "I want a snake that will like, at you whole. Something I can scare the **** out of people with"
Employee: walks away

Thats not really a stupid question at all, when i first started fish keeping i wouldn't know they were aggressive either, at least they are asking before they buy it.
 
i was waiting to get my fish bagged once, and some guy and his son walk up and ask to get their water tested (its free), and one of the staff asked "is it freshwater or saltwater?" and the dad didnt know and asked his son who didnt know either, so the staff asked "if they add salt" and the duo didnt give a straight answer cause they didnt know again and so the staff just did a test for freshwater. i dont understand tho, why would you get your water tested if you didnt even know enough about your aqaurium to know if it was fw or sw. how would they know what the water test meant, rofl

My local petco employees are so stupid, that I can go in and buy a $15 oscar for the price of a $4.99 "assorted african cichlid". :ROFL:

i hear it all the time,and the nemo thing too, with everyone(girls under 10)
