2 kids in a LFS

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh my... I know a lot of the labels at my lfs are incorrect. For instance, it lists Gymnothorax Tile as SnowFlake Moray Eels. The name labels are incorrect a lot of the time, but I know if I ask Tyler [fish kid there] a question about a fish, he will either tell me, "I don't know, but you can look it up here. instert link or book." or "Insert answer here." I trust my fish store so much... I just got a job there. YAY!

As for walmart... *pukes* It makes me sick and I want to buy them all just to get them out of those tanks. That or just run into the back and pour a whole bottle of Stress coat and ich treatment into their water systsem. If you look at their little bagging 'cleaning' station, it shows the requirements for the tank cleaning. It says nothing about how to clean the tanks. Its all about making sure the price tags are there, and wiping down the outside glass, and rinsing the sinks and **** like that. Pathetic!

I was in a shop the other day and I saw that they had a bluegill in ne of their tanks. As it was my buddy was lookin for a bluegill that dayso I hit up the kid that was working there at the time and he stated simply that it wasnt a bluegill, it was a flowerhorn. When I said yes it is a bluegill he once again said matter of factly that no, it was a flowerhorn and pointed to the sign on the tank that said.... FLOWERHORN 16.99$.

My elder brother told me that a while ago, when they were receiving a couple of huge 40 inch electric eels from a fisherman, one tourist guy and his girlfriend came close to the boat and asked if this was true that those eels can produce such strong electric shocks.
It seems he didn’t believe this, or he was just trying to show his braveness to his girlfriend.
Suddenly he jumped into the boat and before any of the people around was able to warn him, he tried to take the largest piece in his hands; and of course, he got a strong electric shock that throw him down to the water.
He almost drowned and his girlfriend could not stop laughing.
He won’t forget that electric eels are “electric”…

my lfs is bad about changing labels on their tanks. I just ask "how much is the snook?", even though the tank says "danios, 1.99". I don't assume they're stupid, just lazy.

I did see their laziness almost bite them in the ass once. someone wanted to buy a 12" jag. the tank was labeled "cichlid, 29.99" the customer said she wanted to buy it, and the employee said "no, its $50." The lady paid the 50. being that there was only one fish in the tank (and a cichlid, no less), and only one price labeled on the tank, I would've insisted on paying $30.

that tank still says "cichlid $30", two months later.

A few years ago with bearded dragons first became available in NZ I was at the LFS and was holding the large display male while the employee caught some fish for me. Two girls, probably about 15, walked up and freaked out and screamed "OMG is it real?!?!!!" I just replied with "nah, its only plastic", the kinda looked relieved until it turned its head to look at them and did a big yawn. The look on their faces was priceless! :D
