wow good thing they werent your treasured blacks..
:iagree: Makes you think.....maybe it WOULD be BETTER to start med with black 7-10 inches or so.....mortality rate would KILL me....ESPESCIALLY if a BLACK died on me.;)

That was pretty quick... my best bet would be aggression between the two. Tehy can really tear each other up pretty bad.

As always, that small size is nearly impossible..one in five survives....

star again, ideal:)

Up until now I have had decent luck with smaller arows (2.5 inches and larger). Have a 2.5 Black Aro with no sack (yes it is a Black Aro) and he is now about 23-24 inches. Had a 4-5 inch Silver that I got when it was 3-3.5 inches but the 3 inch Jardini I had him with in my 300gal killed him. I had the 3 inch Jardini up till about 12 inches and he died a after we moved to a new house.

I'm not entirely sure what direction to go. I keep thinking find some young Black Aros around the 4-5 inch mark, or maybe get a Lech, but then I think if I gonna spend around $200 bucks for a Lech I might as well see if I can get a Green for a few hundred more, or I can just go simple/cheap and get a small Jardini for ($30-$50 at bout 4-6 inches) or a small Silver (4-6 inches). I dunno yet. Is April/May and Oct/Nov the times young Black Aros are typically available?

VVateverzYo - Yup I live in Cali and I have sources for Asian Aros, just not willing to spend the $ on a single fish. There are people in CA with Gars, Freshwater Rays, Asian Aros.

I ended up getting just a Jardini Aro. 4 inch guy for about $48 and after two days of feeding frozen krill he is eating Hikari Food sticks. Hopefully when he gets to 12 inches he will be as docile as my last one I lost at 12 inches.
