ok i think ill go with swordtails so what should be the male to female ratio and whats the normal batch of babies so anyting i need to know?

Good choice with the swordtails, they're my favorite livebearer, plus they get a bit bigger to. You can expect to have 30 fry per birth, this can be higher or lower though. They'l have babies quite often. I'm assuming you don't have a separate tank to raise the fry, so i'd try nd put some java moss in there, or something else that the fry can hide in till they get bigger.

Also, the fry should be big enough that they won't need specialy food and you can just use normal flake that you crush up really small. Also 1 male for every 2 females.

kool well i think ill go to the lfs asap as long as my dad will take me...

wanna try something interesting try the more harder to find live bearers. instead of getting the regular neon swords try koi or black swordtails. im breeding bumble bee platy. They are still just platy but lfs look at them differently and charge more so they will be more likely to take them in :) look around and invest in a unique livebearer.

think i will try that then ty mabye the jet black swords?lol im semi gothic :P

The black swordtails would be a good choice, this is what they'll look like http://www.wetwebmedia.com/FWSubWeb...tail PIX/Xiphophorus_helleriAQ_Black_pair.JPG and another cool kind that i saw at pets unlimited that you might like is this kind http://xhifin.org/Black lyretail-1.jpg. Just going with the black theme.

Also keep in mind sword tails will eat their fry, and you may lose a fair amount of them to hungry parents, which is why i suggested java moss or somthing else that they can hide in so a few will live, don't worry like i said earlier they breed often, so even if you lose a whole batch, another will be on it's way shortly.

i love that first one!i just wish the white would be red instead lol :)

I would agree with the javamoss though its grows in almost any kind of basic light and if u carpet the bottom of the tank with it you will save alot f fry. whatever u decided on breeding check with ur lfs stores first to see if they will take in what ur offering.

lol it just mean get enough java moss so u can put alot on the bottom of the tank , enough for babies to hide in. I literally carpet my planted tank with it but im just crazy . :screwy:
