Pulled the plug on getting a 210 gallon. Thought about a Jaguar pair but thinking maybe a Jaguar with maybe nics and convicts. Also thought a single dovii but believe they truly need a tank with more length and height than a standard 210 but would take a few years to reach a crazy size.

Help!!! Lol

It's really just up to your preference, 210 is plenty large for most cichlids.
If you want to go the community route, the fish you mentioned might work, though it is always going to be a bit of a gamble and might require some adjustments to stocking as you go along. Another parachromis like friedrichsthalli might have a higher success rate, but I don't see why a managuense couldn't also work, especially if the smaller cichlids pair up. I might go for something larger than convicts, even a fully grown female convict is bite-sized for a large male Jag.

I have a male parachromis multifaciatus at 8 inches right now as I've rehomed the female due to his aggression building up towards her. Maybe build something around but since removing that female, his skittish ways of hiding have gotten to its peak.

I had a male dovii in a 5x2x2 180 by himself and he was so interactive and amusing more so than my Oscar's at the time. But it does come down to what you want. Sometimes the hardest part of a new tank is deciding what to put in it!

Yea I've been wanting to do a dovii but not sure long term he'd be fine in the 210. I do know they slow down after a foot and take couple of years to reach potential size but then what, try to find a home for 26-30 inch fish that I've grown attached to? Trust, I'd love to pull the trigger on it. That's why I figured a jag pair or build something around a jag.

Mine was around 24 inches in that tank he was in that tank since he was bought I got him with the tank. I get where you're coming from though, any fish I get will spend the rest of their life with me. Especially the ones with personality. Jags are fun too though and you may be able to have more than just them in the tank
