yup the check valve can also cause cavatation that can lead to premature pump failure.Just lookin out 4 ya.

Looking good. Quick question on the return. Have you tried the pump without those four (well 2 pairs of 2) black spray things. When I pulled mine off and just made my own spray parts without causing the water to have extra pressure I ended up getting about twice the water flow.

How loud is your setup anyways? I ended up going with a submersible pump since it was quiter. But I do like your sump better than mine.

thanks bro .....no i never tried to pulled mine off so i dunno how the flow of my will be..show me some pic of your outlet part.....my sump was loud but i fixed it already ( double filter pad) stop the water fall noise ...i was never a fan of submersible pump so i go with external.. i got blue line ps4 its quiet but its bring some heat to the tank

So this was the piping that my tank came with (maybe half inch_:

(Though with two of them, I was just using one to test it out.)

This is what I ended up doing this: (I think it is 1 inch and 3/4 inch pvc.)

I only used one return, but by not causing the spray I have a much higher flow rate. (As you can see both of those tubes are sending out a decent amount of water.)

(If you want more up to date pictures I could take some, but well these are close enough to what I decided to do. If you want say a spray bar, I would just put a long tube with drilled holes but then have the end uncapped. In other words the less pressure on the pump the better.)

What you are going to actually be smart and not combine the two (ie beer and large fish tanks)? Nice job on washing the sand.
