Plan on doing what is healthiest for the fish. I want the 180 to last 2 years but that might not happen. Right now at about 7 inches I'm feeding him every 2nd day about 1 piece of shrimp (amount he takes on one sitting). Once he gets to around 12in I'll slow down on feeding to once or twice a week. Different from piranha this guy begs for food. I hear him splashing water at the top of the tank telling me to come feed him.

I'm going to make an effort to find a video of a giant aimara here that's kept in Beijing. The thing is the size of a medium sized corgi... From the short video I saw with the owners hand playing with it from behind the glass, it looked like it was easily around 3feet and very thick. That one may be one of the largest in captivity here in china. 2feet ones are plenty and sold periodically for around 4k usd. We get the rio tapajos red variant as well but they are pretty much sky price at any size. I've seen a green aimara too, anyone else catch a glimpse of that variant?
Do you think you can get images of the green aimara, I've never heard of or seen such a variant. Unless you're talking slight green sheens, I think I've seen an image of one with that, but green being the actual color nope lol. Rio tapajos look amazing imo, holy grail of wolves for me lol.

And I think you can get two years out of the 180.

Hi guys,
i wasn't here for a long time. The reason for that is that the Aimara died on 8th February 2016 (Superbowl Finals) . He got some HITH and won't eat for 3 -4 Months, attack the foot but don´t eat anything and then i have tried some medicine (Manaus Aquarium Octocil for Intestinal flagellates). A professor from the company and I are thinking this medicine slowly kill all my snails in the substrat an then everything died over Night.

The Aimara was about 60cm (24'') when he died and lays now in my freezer since february. I want to preperate the Skull.

Maybe i post some Pics of the desaster later... :(

N nzafi the tank is a 7,8'x4,2'x2,6' (240x130x80cm) about 660gal. from the side you will only see 60cm of the complete depth.

Sorry for the loss of your aimara. Maybe can try another wolf.

Sorry for your loss. I had a black piranha/rhom for 17 years that succumbed to HITH 6 months back. I did not realize these guys get HITH all that easily. Any idea of the cause?

I think my case was caused by extremely hard water. I am trying to keep my aimara's setup soft by using peat moss.

Sorry to hear. You took good care of it, didn't expect this outcome

Crazy monster and tank size. Hope it goes back to use, the tank.
