Yeah, while they got them in by chance due to someone dropping them off they typically have a good selection of less commonly seen fish.

Really wish I could chat with the original owner of the robertsoni so I could get the full story.

That is the unfortunate part of most LFS. At the same time you can still find quality fish. My first robertsoni I bought at a LFS 12 years ago. Sadly, because of management change they will probably never have them again. I ordered mine w/ 6 pasionis from The Wet Spot. My largest pasionis is from Jeff Rapps.

My LFS can sometimes special order you species in if they have them on their "list". I would really like another male pasionis but I doubt I'll find any locally. I drove to a LFS in Cincy to get my last group. They turned out to be pretty high quality as I've seen few with as intense of coloration.

Nice job, looks great. I wouldn't add a pair of P. melanura to that tank, but that's just me.

The difficult part about that is they are hard to sex, but especially at a small size.
I really need some female mixteco blue (now panchovillai). I had 2 males and 2 females but unfortunately the females died.

Thanks. I'm a bit hesitant to add another large pair of fish into the equation as well. I've had multiple other large species in with them however they were always lone males. The addition of another larger species does seem to help the pearsei form a stronger pair bond as it gives the male another target to focus his aggression towards.

I lost a few pasionis randomly as well. They just oddly never seemed to thrive and were much smaller than the others. I still have 2 more females that look very runty as well. Those are the two I will most likely remove soon so I am left with 3 females and a single male.

I have no clue on the m/f ratio of the robertsoni...

I wouldn't be surprised if my robersoni came from the same breeder, I picked mine up at one of the gcca swap meets in Chicago, he had a number of spawns a few years back.

I ended up giving they away when I moved.

When I first got them they were only about an inch or two, and I grew them out with young nicaraguense.

Yours look a bit more like "traditional" robertsoni to me. Mine have a good amount of red on their throats and a slightly different head profile.

Looking good! Love that red yours has. That is one of the main differences. Other then that, the’ll look similar. It’s really difficult to sex robertsoni. But you have a large group so you’ll find out eventually.

Some show the black blotch on the dorsal fin that typically identifies with females in many other species. Oddly enough, they are the two more dominant fish that I thought were males?
