Sorry to hear about the leakage Chris. I know how that feels, only I lost around 120 gallons on the living room floor. Not good.
Hopefully it hasn't caused you to much damage mate.
Hopefully they'll be small enough to him not to be viewed as competition.
Well, the end goal for the melanura are to be viewed as competition thus relieving some aggression from my male pearsei that is typically directed towards my female. However, at the size they are now, they are simply ignored. The pasionis have seemed to take a liking to showing them who's boss though...
Are you concerned that the melanura may turn the tables on the pearsei ? Mine has always been a trouble maker but always seemed either too aggressive or not aggressive enough but not a REAL tough guy like some other viejas ive had.
It could certainly happen, however raising fish together from a young age helps put the odds in my favor. The pearsei will always have a size advantage on them and by the time the melanura get to any respectable size they should be well established within the community.
If for some reason that does happen, the melanura will be removed without question as the pearsei are my number one concern. Or maybe I'll just have to get a bigger tank?![]()
