2300 gallon fish room work in progress.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well dam, 1 step ahead 2 steps back... the bow fronts back 2nd seal was pealing off, so I resealed the whole back. I hope the 8ft wont bust now as the fish are all in there!!!

the silicone suggests 1 day dry time per 2mm of bead so I have 2-3 days of waiting.... fun!

I also checked the area next to my bow front tank to see if the 6x2 tier will fit and I will have 90mm of play which is going to be fun!

Looking good mate - been waiting a while to see what the big eight footer would look like filled. Is it just me though or is there a pretty noticeable slant to the water level?

Those big fibreglass tanks are pretty impressive too (well, except that colour). What's the $ cost for those bad boys if you don't mind me asking. I've started looking at going bigger than my current 2-metre tank but it's a pretty expensive proposition - not a lot of tank builders down here in Canberra.

Always thought I was the only Canberran on here haha.

Thanks guys, Moved one more tier last night and removed the double roller door, HOPEFULLY i will get my stand this weekend it has taken way too long but the room is looking good.

I removed the roller doors to get the extra height closer to the wall area and also for my extension which I may have to start on soon

Plan is to have a large 8.5 x 3 x 3 saltwater tank behind the sofa with a wooden wall in place so it looks in wall effect.

- sumps for a few tanks in the main room will go in the new room (2 by the looks of it 7fts)

- the 8 x 4x2x2s will be there too, one tier will be a QT/hosp setup and the other 3 may be saltwater or freshwater breeding tanks.

- maybe another 7x2x2 or 8x2x2 as I have some stands for them.

The main issue is not having a van - trailer so getting the wood is looking quite hard, may get a metal shed welded up from across the road at work pending price / rust defence.

&

Floor is not level its on a slight tilt to allow for the sewer drain hole/ flow to it . I can grind a little trench out of the cement for the water issue but the angle of the cement is quite large I will need an inch on the front legs to make it level but then the back legs wont be fully supported if that makes sense? so I may build a new floor but then I have the issue of the weight, SO I figured I could build my base and pour cement all around the inside etc this may crack though as it wont be a large slab + its going on an existing slab. other idea was fill the base with sand but it will compact and I will be required to fill it again + I am not even sure it would work.

Anyways Heres some more mobile phone picture ;P quite boring also lol. sorry on my behalf.

( the insulated wall is the only thing keeping my fish safe from any possible heroin junkies with a fish fetish, causing issues why I sleep!)

So My left wall is finished, I have from left to right

- 5 x 3 x 2 on top of tier
- 6x2x2 on bottom of tier

- 550G bowfront in middle

- 6x2x2 2 tier on other side

One day I plan to change the top tanks to 6x2x3 (high) but thats a long way away.

I've always heard 1 day per mm for aquariums, incredibly frustrating with 15mm glass that is doubled up in some places for bracing meaning a 30 day wait!

Ouch, the one I used is underwater cure also maybe why they suggest a faster dry time? it drys into cement nothing like normal silicone theres little flex, I think this is why the seal broke.

When we move a 550g with such huge bracing and only 3 people its kinda ruff, very far from a smooth lift and I think that caused the issue.

Positive side 8x4x3 is still holding water haha, hopefully I can fully fill it this weekend!

I got the stand for the 8.5 tier :D hopefully get it painted today. Added center legs to make it easier and bring the cost down, glad I did half the price and the leg looks so small its not biggie.

Now I have to deceide on a 8.5ft x 3 x 2 for the bottom tier also OR 1x 4.5ft x 3 & 1 x 4x3x2.

Hey guys, Little update!

Got the 8.5x3x2.5! had 4 people and managed to move it, was pissing down with rain but we got it done! We started at about 10pm and finished at 3.30 am! over all went pretty smooth. One issue was the trolley kept losing pressure causing the tank to drop, so we had to keep egg crates under it else we used the better trolley (green one) she goes 2m high also, makes life a treat.

Anyways here are some pictures of the move, I didn't get any of the tank on the actual stand. Post some of them later tonight.

Now!! Should I put my RTC in there or my 6 pearsei and try breed them HMMM!!!

I used little Gman as a size reference to the tank :)
