240 Gal project with pics

aguaculture.com sells native fish havent got anything from them yet but they have some of the fish that are harder to get when there real small. plus different kinds of minnows, shrimp and crawdads. i keep putting up the idea to put a black crappie in my tank with a few different sunfish. hurd there hard on live plants tho
 
Well I finally got the tank and stand inside. Now to attach the overflows, and maybe start filling it about 1/8th of the way. I plan to fill it very slow and give it a few days inbetween because of the bowing issues posted about earlier. This should allow the tank to conform to the new level and supported stand slowly. I hope this will limit the stresses.

When you used the Novus did you use an orbital buffer or do it by hand?

I de-scratched a tank many thought was ruined but only used #3 and #2. It is set up and looks great with the lights on, but if they're off the ambient light creates a haze on the acrylic because it's not perfect... I want to use #1 on the outside now to see if it helps. Don't want to use a buffer though since the tank is set up... wondered if maybe you had good results without that, which would mean it'd be OK for me to try.

As you can see from the before pics to the now pics the novus did a great job. I had a haze when I sanded the tank and then even a very slight haze with the #2. I used the #1 and everything went away. I did use a buffer, and I did the inside and outside of the tank. After the #1 was buffed on I used a terry cloth and buffed it real good by hand.
 
That looks like a largemouth bass. Very cool! Is it a largemouth ? I always wanted to catch a bullhead catfish and a largemouth for a tank

Yes, that is a LMB, and yes I still have him. I am probably going to let him go back into my pond with his buddies once the new tank is stocked. He would most likely eat everything else in there if I put him in the 240, he is an eating machine. I may put him in there though :confused:. I just won't be able to put any small sunfish or crayfish in there.
Right now I am leaning towards a scholl of about 5 Green sunfish, a channel catfish, some crayfish, maybe a few crappie or perch. Decisions, decisions :nilly:
 
yea, once he gets a couple pounds on him, nothing will stay out of his mouth (which can be dangerous for him if you have a sunfish or perch that doesnt quite fit--spines!). But if you have some other big guys in there it may not be a problem; just him eating all the food before they get a chance. Schoolies might be better looking anyway :)
