240 Gallon Build thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh I didn't realize he didn't have one. Matias I agree with the above 100%. A gate valve is a must have on this tank. I would skip ball valves all together as most do not handle fine tune adjustments well.
Hmm ball valve eh. Pretty hard to find stuff here, I had to go to three different shops just to get my ball valves

Gate valve. Super important IMO for your type setup. It's worth the effort in tracking one down. In order to control noise you need flexibility in flow control for both air and water. I order on amazon. I don't even bother trying to find local

Hmm, I'll look into it man. This build is now is getting frustrating, if that can fix it then I'm all ears haha

Gate valves are good, i wasn't able to find a pvc one for my tank so i went to the hardware store and got a brass one, they are NOT cheep. But they will last you forever and are reusable because they have treads.

The gate valve is an essential part as mentioned. Every now and then I see folks posting about this where they've not implemented the gate valve. If I were you I wouldn't treak any further without that.

I know we all read forum stuff where we brush by as opions myself included. Gate valve for overflow "success" is not one of them LOL. Do what you must to get one...

Right now tank is at stand still, just running the canisters.

I will try my best to find one. Are the brass ones even fish safe?
