240 gallon discus tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice tank!

thanks for that input busterbrown. i think i might do that now. ill probably leave the 60 as is, and just throw them in there or divide it and make it into a sump and put them in that 40 gallon section so its less water for me. so for water changes would you say,
1. i dump the water then when filling fill with the water from 240 then the new water add into the 240 to top that off

2. have the sump (60 gallon) running through the 240 so its less water changes, theoratically because the water is constantly circulating from the 240 to the 60 then back to the 240.

3. have them both completely seperate and do their own water changes and add new water to each tank. not mixing either together

lol well i have two large plecos planning on getting rid of those, everything else will prob eat all my fish hahaha, im guessing thats what your tank is made up of ? haha

I would just have an entire seperate tank personally. I dont know about putting them in a sump. Wait to see what else you hear though maybe its a brilliant idea. But id just go with a seperate tank. craigslist has them from time to time and your in socal so im sure you can find something. Doesnt look like your hard up on cash flow. Its up to you wait to see what you hear

Hey whats up Jessie. It's Richard... Nice to see you on here! The tank is looking sweet :)

Hey Richard thanks man! cant wait to see yours set up man. have you started it yet or you still working on the smaller tank? i saw you have bettas going too? nice!. ya i still have a lot to go so im taking it all slowly. haha keep me updated on your, i subscribed to your thread to stay updated haha.

so i plan on prob just finishing the stand but i might pick up the 100 gallon tank for the sump first but i need anyones opinion on the finish look for the stand. i dont want to paint it because i find it too plain so im going to stain it. the wood i am using is white wood. i like the knots on the wood and i like that look when you stain it, i dont mind it and i like the grain on it too. also because its a lot cheaper haha:D. here are some pics of my closet i built, its also white wood and i stained it too. let me know what you guys think, and i might not seal it with anything just because i dont like the glossy finish, ill try looking for a flat one.
