keep your beast man, there is nothing better than coming home to a 14" monster begging to be fed after a hard days work. that is a great looking dovii and if you do give it away, make sure it is in the best of hands.

I will proberly get burned at the stakes for saying this. If you don't have enough space or money get a 2xfour feet tank (stack system), atleast 18(20 would be better) wide for your dovii. Since his only 12inch max he should be fine for atleast two years. Just make sure you filter twice the recommeded and add a power head for water movement and oxygen.

The other 4ft you will need for the community if your cichlids have a bust-up and they will or if you want too get a mate for your dovii. Too many females are being killed in tanks even if the tanks are large. In the wild females just leave if the male is nasty. Also remember you'll value a female cichlid just as much as a male just in a different way. Fish safety is far more important than outrageous recommended living space thats being toted around.

Don't give up any of your cichlids, you are lucky to have a large cichlid community and a large predator. Both hits different spots of enjoyment the other doesn't.

Dovii being max 14 instead of 12 i stated, do get 20 wide.

Oh forgot don't put any hard decoration apart from gravel, if your dovii is anything like mine-totally nuts- he will hurt himself.

That's what I am afraid of! But I will also miss my Butti, boucourti, jag, etc...I NEED MORE TANKS!!!
you will miss your dovii more! i sold a 10" butti, 11" manag, 11" midas and others so i could keep dovii, and i dont regret it as now i have a future monster dovii!

I dunno, the community tank would be more enjoyable I reckon, not to mention exciting.

i would actually recommend getting a pair dovii for that 240 gallon.

i'm not so much into communities anymore.
unless it's full of midas complex lol.
