Very hard decision, been there a few times myself back and forth. Is there definately no way to have both maybe a smaller community tank say 75g-90g. ATM I have a 6ish'' dovii in my 125-135g with a 11ish'' A.Oscar and 4 SD and 2 Raphael cats. Recently lost my pearsi, and think about replacing her with another or bocourti. I know it will not last with the dovii around 8'' mark. but I am thinking about just getting 90-100g and remove the oscar, sd,and cats. but to answer you I would go DOVII

Very hard decision indeed. Ultimately it is your decision and when you make it don't look back. But if I were you, I'd go with the Dovii!!!!

Go with the community all is see is dovii dovii dovii there just really populer right now and I think its nice to have some thing less common

I like the Dovii better than the other fish.

So do I. The problem is I am not sure that I want only a dovii. I can always go back and get another tank and dovii when my situation changes. It will be tougher (and more expensive) to replace my other fish. I wish he wasn't such a killer and would let the others be. I may look at getting a 75 for the dovii for a few months until I can get back to a larger tank. I moved the dovii to a smaller temp tank tonight because the others needed the whole 8 feet. I was hoping you all would tell me I was leaning the right direction in keeping the community tank. Now I am more confused.

If it's only for a few months and that's an option, there's nothing more to discuss. The Dovii stays. :headbang2

Oh, Balton if it was only that simple. We are moving to a new house we bought and my wife has given me a one tank limit. She would be the hurdle. I am working on it though.

now now, unless your wife has bought the house herself then you can do what you like! dont let a women run your life mate, especially when these kind of fish are involved.

looking at the pictures though, all of your fish are fairly decent, BUT none of them (or all of the community in fact) will top off that monster dovii when he max's out. if getting a tank is not an option in the end, then keep the dovii.

the only way id encourage you to sell such a dovii is if you were going to ship it over to me!!

you wanna have a long hard think about this, your dovii may or may not be your favourate fish at the moment, but when he's a absolute monster a year or so down the lineyou will love him, especially if you get a good female for him aswell.

KEEP THE DOVII!

Dude I know exactly where you're coming from. I used to have six but now my wife limits me to two.....(plus a small 20g and 30g). Talk her into at least two. Tell her in order to keep large aggressive cichlids, you need a minimum of two to shuffle fish around.
