240sx or 3000gt?

In orlando I personally dont think your gong to have to much of a problem with theives as you would if you owned a honda, might want to keep an eye on it though, and I wouldnt call them the new civics they have been just as popular along time ago as they are now and thievies dont seem to focous on them as much anymore. Its just more noticed now b/c the drifting scene is bigger. Anywho its a fun car to drive around, I know quite a few people who own them and love them, seems to be a dependable car for them and not to pricey of a car either. That car wouldnt be as hard to work on either and nissians are decent cars. I love 3000gt but from what I gather form a friend who owned one who flat out said to me (when I was looking at them) its a mech's car. Plus mitsu in general are not that reliable compared to alot of other cars, I know people with basic mitsu and have lots of problems. I think the 240 would probably be the smarter choice, just dont go crazy with it. If you plan on drifting/racing do your research first and make sure you know what you are geting into and what you are doing becuase alot of baddddd things can happen if you dont.. (such as rolling into trees, slamming into poll's etc..) I know alot of lucky people who owned 240's and only 2 of them has them, the rest dont anymore b/c its been rolled or slammed into something. Things change when you learn what you can do to and with a car. None the less if you plan on using it just as a fun car to drive and for a daily driver then you'll prob. have fun with it =]

I agree with the previous posts...if you can't find a VR4, don't bother with a 3000.

My brother owns a '97 (S14) 240sx which he swapped a s13 red top 2L turbo motor into, VERY quick car...he clocked a 13.9 with street tires/upgraded clutch...might be a route you want to take if you can get a deal on one with high miles. Just make sure you have a good shop to do the work as well as TUNE it properly, that can't be stressed enough.

mitsu as everyone said arent that reliable.

for about 7 grand you can find a really nice 97-98 with a strong motor. Leaving the motor alone and not abusing it will last forever, they are built like tanks.

(side note: had a friend drive his car with 4 holes in his engine block, it was smoking liek crazy but still drove to his destination before dying"

If you do decide to motor swap it with SR, Rb, Ca or even KA-T, be careful of who you show you set up to.

I wouldnt call them the new civics they have been just as popular along time ago as they are now and thievies dont seem to focous on them as much anymore.
I would have to disagree with you here. Even though my 240 isnt currently running in perfect condition, everytime i hear an exhaust i run outside to make sure its still there.

I hope this wasnt that confusing to read....

passed some japo's on my way back from work, and i just realized that i now stereotype people driveing 240's. every time i see one, it's always a teenager or early 20's driver- ussally 93-94's, with everything stock but a gianormus exhaust. and i look at them as punks personally. there always the kind of drivers you see doing street drift matches and endangering other lives. did see a 94ish MKIV and he was playing it cool, nothing fancy just driveing, but the 240 i recognized from a street drift rally, of 20 some people last week, bunch of jackasses, if your gonna drive like an amatuer because your not mature enough to drive civil, than do it somewhere other than a really crowded intersection when you have a red light. punks and idiots.

Leave that American Msucle alone, if its Japanese, it's worth every penny!

I own a 86, 300ZX(SX cousine I think...) First car, best car. I love Nissan so I say go with that. Lot's of haters at school thow, but my cars better then theirs.

I know the feeling,

I didnt mean they wont be stolen, I just meant hondas seem to be the main (not the only) focous b/c theres more chop shops and demand for parts currently for them, at least in my area and somewhat north-west of here. I am sure that will change. Which I guess is a bad point to make becuase that always changes every so often and generally speaking civics, 240s, integras, sentras and others will probably be stolen alot regarudless.

I say they arent the new civics because they have been around just as long and are just as popular. Anyways hope all is good and good luck with your build :D

Milkman good luck finding a car.

Well both are out of date cars. So if anything happens mechanically, break out the wallet. Why not look into something a little newer? What kind of money do you want to spend?

dont plan on drifting or racing if you would have read the whole thread. I personaly just like the look of suped up cars more than other cars, ( besdies the old models ).

why would you say-

"I cant find the model that went up to 180mph and its bugging the living day lights outa me."

if you don't care about speed? fyi your gonna need to put alot into the motor to hit near that.

and fyi i didn't say you were gonna race, just saying i look down at people who do and alot drive these cars.
