29 Gallon Community Tank Growout Thread

+2.
I have the same reaction to my planted tank…it’s nice to have a “peaceful” tank as a break from the more aggressive ones…even if the planted tanks are the hardest to keep happy lol.
Your tank’s looking great!

+3. As much as I adore my favorites that would lunch on the fish in it, my 110 liter will make for a great 'small and peaceful' planted tank to compliment my largest 2.

I think many MFKers who don't already could really benefit from a 76-110 liter of neons and similar to compliment their several thousand liter tanks of red tail catfish, arowanas, and whatnot.

I'm guessing the tank rebounded from the water replacement mishap?

Yes, the tank is all back to normal. Don’t understand why the Anubis’s and Java Fern are dying though…. The losses include all except one Normans Lampeyes, a neon tetra, and a few Amani shrimped speaking of Amani shrimp, they all have eggs!

Might be too much light on the plants.

A dozen? Haven’t tried them honestly.
A puffer (not for all tanks) or a school of loaches would certainly clean them up in no time too.

Hi Shadow,

I'd like to let you know that using loaches to clear your 341 liter of snails is not the best choice for 2 reasons:

1: As PFK nicely puts it:

Although the molluscivorus reputation of some botiids precede them, don’t use them to clear snail infestations.

Many mollusc-eating loaches tend to be aggressive and as loaches are not specialist molluscivores will not tend to eat the larger, tough-shelled snails.

2: Even setting that aside, for the reasons in the 4th sentence of my signature, it would be a very poor mix with the existing bichirs.

I suggest the assassin snails for that reason.
