Good points. I also wouldn't do it unless I was doing WC's frequently.

See, that's the thing, not a lot of people like doing frequent water changes. I personally would rather understock a tank and do once or twice a week wc's than every other day wc's. I always just assume whoever is asking doesn't like doing water changes. :grinno:

Exactly, I don't think this fish keeper would want to have to perform three or more water changes per week to keep that fish healthy. And it would take plenty of them.

IMO keeping that fish in a 29 is not a good idea, I don't care if you've kept them or not. We've all seen 10" JD's, 12"+ Oscars, etc, in 20-30 gallon tanks in fish stores...that doesn't mean it's a good idea. Theres a good chance that water is changed almost every day in cases like that. This, in my opinion, is equivalent to a part time job and unnecessary if you just buy a fish that suits the tank size properly.

I was trying to give the guy Good advice not questionable advice that might be ok.

Twhittle your idea of disrespect is a lot different than mine :chillpill:

Very true. I like understocking my fish so I can sit and watch them not lug buckets of water around lol.

Your welcome, let us know what you decide on!

I would also like to add the fact that if you put the fish you really want to keep in the tank, you will take better care of it.

if you just listen to us and put what we want in the tank instead of what you want, then you might just ignore it and blow it off when it starts to get dirty becasue you aren't partial to the fish.

So go with your gut.

People, I am talking about a 7 inch JD. Stop comparing that to a 10 inch JD or a 12 inch Oscar. I am going to assume that you are a consciencious fishkeeper who is here for advice. I believe you wanted to know what you could put in a 29. Well, you CAN with weekly WC's put a female JD in a 29. With proper maintenance, it CAN live a happy and successful life in 29.

Oh and HEADRUSH. I am sorry if I misconstrued your :screwy: as disrespectful.
