3-4 inch fahaka

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He ate some bloodworms already and is doing well swimming aimlessly trying to attack his reflection in the glass lol

Lets not start attacking each other since we’re all here to help each other and grow the community afterall...

As for feeding there is no real definitive answer... if you look at nature they may even go days without food where as with some aquarists they like to power feed to get their fish to grow faster...

so overall i would say a nice healthy balanced diet would probably be your best option, whether it be night crawlers, crays or other food sources such as pellets...

eitherway, good luck with your puffer and post som pics as he grows??

You cant ask for much better than that. Let's see some pics.
I haven't arranged his tank yet... the driftwood still has to sink.

He ate 6 medium sized krill so far too. Came in skinny like i expected so beefing him up if he's eating.

With tail stretched hes about 4-4.5 inches

Guy is always crusing hard to get him to stay still lol

Excuse the algae in the tank its been set up for months without any fish and as soon as I saw him for sale I pulled the trigger.

I have an ehiem 2217 and a penguin 350 hob filter on the tank. I was trying to use my acuaclear 110 over the penguin but its such a nightmare with sand that no matter how many times I clean out the impeller its always making noise even with a sponge on the intake.

I'm thinking ill get him beefed up and then starve him for a couple days to see if he will take to clams/mussels

Thanks!

How often a week do you suggest feeding him snails/clams and such to keep his teeth filed down?

Fahaks teeth dont grow too quickly, so every other meal or every few meals should be good imo... also in all honesty, if you keep an eye on your puffers teeth growth you can sort of judge how often you need to feed crunchy foods...
