3" Jardini

so cool! how did you train him? my 4" jardini seems to be scared of me. so far i've been feeding him small sized mealworms. however, he keeps to the bottom of the tank when i lift the lid and it circles the mealworm cautiously while glancing at me before snapping the worm up. i really want it to anticipate getting food when it sees my hand up top. my friend has a baby green aro, and whenever he lifts up the tank lid, his aro would anticipate and dash for the worm when it hits the water. very cool!IMG_2702.JPG

I started my aro on feeders. But soon after i started dropping pellets in, at first, he would take them and spit them out. But eventually he started realizing that they were food. Now i just got to get my pbass to eat them.

My aro sticks to the top of the tank swimming back and forth. He still isnt to familiar with the lid opening, but hes getting used to it. Give it time, he will get used to you.

Hey oscar, you said your aro sticks to the top of your tank. But mine stays mid or bottom! Is there aomething wrong with it? I've had it for around 2 weeks now. It only goes to the top when i'm not near the tank. Will also only eat the small mealworms floating up top then. Could it be that it is very suspicious of me?? Or is something else stressing it out?

Im not too sure. Give it time. As he grows and get used to you he will come up. My aro is always at the top. I have yet tot see him at the bottom.

His tail should heal. You might want to be careful, the birchir looks big enough to eat the jarini.
Those food stick might be too big for the jardini. I have mine on mini pellets now.

What is the best way to introduce the floating and sinking pellets to my aro and bichir? I put them in yesterday and they were tasted and spewed out. Went to sleep with lights off and floating sticks were gone whilst sinking pellets have disintegrated into pieces. No idea who ate the floating sticks. Hopefully jar ate them? Today, cleared the leftovers and put in those feeds again. Same thing, tasted, spewed and ignored.

Bichir is only just a little big bigger. But i sure will keep a close observation. No signs of fighting for now.

I would continue with floating, but only 1 or 2 till you know the aro is eating them. An aro isn't all that likely to eat off of the bottom when young. Some do as they get older and more comfortable. Or if they are extra hungry.
