Hey guys my name is rob and I'm somewhat new to the hobby but have been fascinated and really enjoy it. I had a silver about ten in. In my 55 gallon but lost him during a storm that knocked the power out for two weeks. I bought him when he was just a baby with its sack right below its mouth. Out of the seven fish I had I have an 4-5 inch Oscar a 8-10in channel catfish a 5-6 in pleco all in my 55 gallon tank I just bought a baby aro about 2.5 inches and temporarily keeping him in a ten gallon until he gets big enough to defend himself with the Oscar. I would say until he is 7-10 inches is this ok? My Oscar is kind of aggressive..well to my knowledge there pretty aggressive and my tank isn't at my house so it's kind of hard to feed him on a daily basis sometimes 4-6 days without food..
 
Hey Rob! Sorry for your loss. Heard people say here that aros can go without food for a couple of weeks. Maybe you could load the tank with a bunch of live small shrimps and small feeder fish when you're going away. Not sure if jars can be in a comm tank though.

Well no I have the 10 gallon tank with me..do you think it's ok for the aro to be housed in the 10 gallon til he's of size to defend himself
 
Finally jar is eating pellets. It however, attacks the sinking ones first. The pellets are able to fit in the mouth. But it always spew out the feeds but still eats up the breakaways.

Sorry about whose ever thread this was originally that ikinda stole sorry about that...but its a relief to hear he is eating pellets mine goes for them but spits them and goes for them again he end up getting them
