A- cichlids? Aggressive? African? What is the meaning of this term? If 'A' is for aggressive, try looking at fosh in the amatitlania/cryptoheros genuses. If 'A' means African, you're in the wrong forum but there are some remarkable dwarf-like species from lake Victoria. Most colorful males ive ever seen, and perfectly fine to raise and breed a 30.

i meant american cichlids.

Orange belly = female. You could also buy four or so to increase your odds.

Any tips on breeding convicts... thanks... Bump, Bump...

Feed 'em, do regular water changes. Convicts breed like rabbits, without much effort. They may even breed in toilet water (I'm exaggerating... relax... LOL...).

While convicts are cool, if it were me, I'd go with a pair of rainbow cichlids. Super colorful, and lots of character. I have a pair in my 33 now... among my favorites. But convicts are cool... good luck!

I have a small Belly Crawler in a 10g. They are the best small Pike IMO because they are only slightly larger than a Dwarf Pike and yet, they behave just like the big boys. You'll rarely see them for sale specifically in chain stores, they ALWAYS come in with Svenii Pikes and labelled as such, and if you can 100% tell them apart it's pretty easy, and they're awesome. Mine eats frozen food, flakes, and pellets. Nasty habit of ripping up plants though.

By the way, the general rule is one bump per 24 hours.

+ 1 on the belly crawler pike. I've owned a few and a 4 incher right now and is just awesome
