30 gallon stocking

im thinking about getting out of the fish thing for a while and converting my 30g to a reptile tank. i already have a reptile screen/hood thing from when i bought it.

could you guys tell me a bunch of different options for reptiles i could put in it? no anoles please

What are the tank dimensions? If the tank is horizontally oriented, how about a pair or trio of leopard geckos? If it's a little taller (or you could turn it on end to make it taller if needed) how about some crested geckos? There are a lot of other options, but I'm a fan of geckos and those are a couple that are really easy to find and care for

yep its wide, its 36"x12" by 17(not too sure about height. geckos are cool. any other options?

yep i looked at gecko information and pictures and i dont think thats what im looking for. what else could i keep in there for life?

Corn snakes, king snakes (some types), hognose snakes, ball python, garter snake, milk snakes, gopher snakes. These are all relatively good size snakes for that size cage and good begginer snakes.

Will it be a dry reptile cage, or a vivarium/paludarium? You have to clarify what conditions will be in the tank.

Dry, I'd say a citrus Beardie, or perhaps a breeding pair of Leopard Geckos.

Vivarium/paludarium, I'd say day geckos, ANY kind of NA salamander (amphibians, i know, sorry), any small monitors and water dragons.

As turtles are reptiles, sliders are also always a good choice.

Good call. For some reason I was only thinking of lizards. There are quite a few snakes that would do well in there. Hognoses are great. I'm still living at home part of the year, so I have yet to have one myself, but if I were to get a small snake, it would be a hognose. We had one at work that was the most awesome, docile snake I've ever handled. There are some pretty sweet morphs of them as well.

Some of those, like the beardie, and especially the slider would need a tank upgrade. Some turtles like small species of muds, or maybe even a male map would be ok in a 30 for life, though.

I was thinking juvenile beardie, and I've seen sliders in smaller tanks... NOT that they should be kept in such small an area. Rubbermaid container for the win on sliders.
