Ive been planning this 30 gallon tank for a while and researched it a lot. Would this work alright? Any advice is welcome.

30 gallon:

1. Peacock eel
2. Firemouth Cichlid or Convict Cichlid (Pair of male and female)
3. Leopard Bushfish (Ctenopoma Acutirostre)
4. Rubber lip Pleco

Im wonderin if this setup would work well together, i know these cichlids are aggresive and territorial and so is the bushfish so he can hold his own also. I would also have plenty of driftwood and plants to give territory for each fish, also a sand substrate i currently use. Let me know what you think!

I would say yes, but at some point the peacock eel would outgrow the tank, and for the cichlid, I'd go with the firemouth since they aren't as aggro as cons

peacock eels only max out at around 10", ur prolly thinkin bout a fire eel or tiretrack which get huge. So, my peacock should be fine in the 30 gallon. And i thought that the Firemouths would be more aggresive than the convicts? anyone had any personal experience with them???

I've kept and bred both, and almost all of the time the convicts are significantly more aggressive than firemouths

u think that 2 adult firemouths would get too big for the 30 gallon eventually? thats what worried me, cause they max out at around 6" while the convicts are a lil smaller i believe

a big male con will be far too dominant in a tank that size if you plan to keep too many other fish in there...especially if paired up...and also firemouth grow extremely slow and are more peaceful...I'd definitely go with the firemouth, but I'll let others chime in

blue acaras are gorgeous and peaceful, which is somthing I would aim for in tanks less than 5'

ya i just checked those blue acaras out and they are beautiful lookin but i think they might get a bit too big for my 30 gallon. Ill prolly jsut go with the firemouths then. Dotfiremouths improve their coloration as they age? I have seen many different colors of them etween light and dark.
