The smaller of the golden girls is really active for a jag.

With the lower number of fish, how are you liking the maintenance routine now?

My stocking has made tank maintenance pretty simple from a visual point of view with very slow algae growth and a little poo. I dont test with the kit regularly but just do set days to change water. I need to test one of these days. I might add a fish soon so it might all change.

I never see poo for long, i honestly havent gravel vac'd this tank ever. Everything just ends up in the filter socks.

Even if the nitrates are lower i suspect over time they will creep back up as they continue to grow.

Wow never vac the sand with those big guys? when i had the small ones in my tank I was cleaning up poop constantly. it didnt help that my sand was black so i saw every speck of poop. but it seemed like they would wait until i did a water change for all the polys to simultaneously start pooping everywhere. haha

But anyway, That jaguar catfish is a stunner man! I was never a big fan because of the complaints of inactivity but yours seems to be pretty active compared to most others.

Haha yeah don’t get me wrong they do make a huge mess especially after eating pellets and that damn hulk is a disgrace but over the next day or so everything ends up in the sump.

Something to consider with your upcoming build : I feel like we put to much emphasis on gph and flow but not enough on directing the flow. I’ve had other tanks with super high fog and yes the water was nice and polished but poop would still gather in certain spots which was still better than having it all over the place lol with the 300 I mess around with the nozzles (pointed down, up, or to the sides)
