Has anyone bought an acrylic from them>?

I bought a glass one from them and was happy with it.

I am not so sure I'd buy an acyrlic one from them. Maybe they have changed, but I read they use silicone on the acrylic. I just have seen mixed reviews about their acylric tanks. But maybe now that they've done it for awhile, it's better?

I bought a used 300g acrylic tank, and personally I think that is the way to go. Acylic is better than glass on a large tank, IMO. Two people can move my tank. I never have to worry about the silicone peeling/wearing out, etc. It was easy to drill for a bulkhead. I highly recommend at least partially automating water changes on a tank that big. Even if all you do is put a bulkhead on the bottom to drain water (as opposed to siphoning).

The 240 is looking a little small to me. I'm kind of leaning towards buying a 350 gallon acrylic from tenecor. The only problem is that is a pretty huge investment. They have sent me quotes on the 240 and 350 and tenecor is pretty competitive.

A 240 is nice and it is the biggest thing I could get in there and still have a WAF but if I could get bigger I would. What kind of fish you want to keep? If big CA/SA I would get 36" front to back. Maybe even 30" tall. The price jumps a lot tho when you go above 25" tall. My last tank I never setup and sold (long story) was 6'x3'x2' and I miss the 3' depth....even tho I never saw it with water. It had the overflows on the back of the tank so it had a lot of room. Starphire glass on the front and sides. Look at the white sheet through the side vs the bottom.

That is a nice tank. What do that one run if I may ask?

I got that one from a place in Canada called Miraclesinglass. It was 6'x3'x2'...overflows on back of the tank with 4 holes in each and the two on the back glass. Starphire glass on the sides and front...black silicon shipped to louisiana was 2500. Very good price for what it was if you ask me. 500 was shipping. I sold it for 2k with a stand welded out of steel tube and a few other odd and ends. Had it for like 2-3 years and never got to set it up.

:jaw:Wow. That is the nicest glass tank I've ever seen. It's a shame that you were never able to set it up. Is the current owner on MFK or elsewhere online?

It was going to be a upgrade for my 110gal reef tank. But Katrina killed everything in my 110 and I moved a year after the storm. My new house couldnt fit the depth...but I got a 8 footer now over a 6footer. I just wish I had 36 again. So the build thread was on reefcentral and the new owner is actualy around the corner from my house. I haven't talked to him tho since the sale. I tried PMing him but never heard back. If I see it ill take pics lol.

The back has notch's on the top for the overflow. Then a solid sheet of acrylic for background and to make the teeth for the overflow. The glass is notched just around the teeth area.

Yall should have seen the lights I was going to use. I might be able to dig those pics up later...

Ask for Derek and tell him I sent ya. I don't know if he remembers but tell him im the guy that's from New orleans that never set up his tank...he should know lol. My price was from several years ago...I dont know if its gone up...shipping might have with gas like it is.
