Yep; your septic system has a finite lifespan. Every gallon of water through it brings you that much closer to an inevitable...and expensive...point at which the whole thing needs to be dug up and re-done.
Never forget the old saying used at cottages and camps that are on septic systems, usually small ones: If it's yellow, it's mellow; if it's brown, flush it down!
I don't go quite to that extent here at home, but I do usually walk out to the edge of the yard and pee into the fallow field if it isn't too inconvenient. When I am getting ready for bed, I take the dog out for his final pee of the day...and usually join him!
