How thick in the glass on this thing? Are the sliding fronts just as thick? This is absolutly fantastic and I'm so jealous. I'm contumplating one for my bedroom now on a much smaller scale as most of the plants I love require constant watering.
I decided to use 1/2" glass for the front piece because it has no top bracing. The side window is 3/8" glass. The sliding glass doors are 1/8" thick, which is convenient because the sliding track that they sit is is exactly 1/2" wide, so it fits perfectly on top of the 1/2" lower piece.
The humid setup with good air circulation seems really great for a lot of plants. The constant water flow may not be ideal for all plants, but you can easily design yours to account for that.
I'm pretty happy with the way the "stump" is starting to look. I added some new plants and I'm starting to get a nice moss layer established on the wet parts.
just went through the whole thread, and dude u have some great skillz
if u hadn't posted that archers video of urs i might never have seen this thread in ur sig and would have missed this awesome thread.
when u bought those archers and posted pics of them, i never knew u had done such an elaborate setup for them, really this one among a few amazing setups i have seen done for the sake of archers
You just reminded why I don't like visiting the DIY section. Because I get so envious of people skills who has great talent building stuff like this.
Man, my hats of to you man. You are very skilled to not only build your tank but to have the vision of creating your own background. A background that is freaking "INCREDIBLE". I've seen some DIY background that looks hella cheesy and looks nothing close to being real. Yours is TOP notch, professionally looking piece. Damn, I had to buy mine...lol....
Wow... glad I took a peek into your thread because I truly enjoyed the progression for start to finish....
Just add a hidden speaker somewhere and play some nature sounds like monkey howling and tiger roars. You would have believed you are in a jungle swamp for a second.
as this tank progresses it is amazing how its starting to look. And thank you for the updates as the tank continues to take shape. BTW loved the archer video almost makes me want to get a tank up like that just to watch them.
