300ish Gallon plywood - First attempt

Awesome! Good job Muni. Once you finish the filtration and trim work you mentioned, it's going to be amazing! Then it will be time to start on your 800 gallon build

I may potentially be moving to Florida in the not to distant future so an 800 would work.... FOR MY SUMP! muhahaha.

But theres nothing confirmed at the moment. Just stuff pending.

So after some reworking of the plumbing I got it working. TWO 1 1/2" drains still werne't keeping up with the pump the way I had them set up so a ball valve inline was needed to slow the flow down. It's about 75-80% flow and holding steady. Ran all night with no leaks. Water level held at the same point in my test sump. I've got it draining at the same speed as the tank is filling.

No I just need something for a sump and figure out some filtration in it and heat it and its on like donkey kong.

So I've got a few zebra danios helping to cycle my tank. I've also used water from my established tanks and filter media in the sump to jump start it. Temperature is holding steady so I figured it was time to move one of the first permanent residents into it.

He's had a rough life and needed an expansion.

Nothing fancy. Just a common pleco. About 10" long or so.

I really like his markings.

He survived in a 55 gallon for a year with no water changes and no filter as the filter fried once the water level got to low. This was the year he was out of my care. I've owned him for 5 years. Water was added once a month or so but somehow this guy and my cory cat survived.

Heres my big guy finally with enough room.

He's 10" long but looks like a little guy in there. The danios give a bit of size comparison. They are about 2".

Looking at just the tank itself, it doesn't look near as big as it does with that pleco in it. That thing is 10"? He makes the tank look GIGANTIC!!

Cool build, I can't wait until I finally find the money/time to be able to do one of my own.

It's getting there. I might cut the lids tomorrow night. I've got an awesome Idea for a glass lid enclosure that will be fish jump proof and light weight to boot.



I didn't get a chance to put a measuring tape on the guy. He hangs over my hand. That net in the picture is an 8" and his tail is hanging down into it.


I'll put something next to him for size reference if he sticks himself to the glass.

What are you using to cut lids? I ask because I need to fashion something together as well for the cold months of the year on my 120 gallon.
