I suspect this is a typo. Normally you take the wet film thickness and then multiply it by the solids percent (by volume) over 100 to get the dry film thickness.

They seem to have done the math the same way but used the percentage of carriers rather than the percentage of solids.

So what they have listed for dry film thickness is really the amount of the product will shrink by once the carriers evaporate.

I doubt anybody cares, but Insul-x has corrected the error on ther online data sheets since Muni posted the numbers almost a year ago.

The wet film to dry film thickness' (posted in green below) are and were correct. They've now just edited the percent solids by volume to match. Percent solids by volume is about 32%.

WET FILM THICKNESS: 5.3 to 6.4 mils
DRY FILM THICKNESS: 1.7 to 2.1 mils

Muni, do you remember how much of the product you used to seal your sump? And what were the dimensions again? I'd be curious to calculate your final dry film thickness.

I'd have to pop open the can. It's been a while.

Nice Progress,

Probabily said already but what plywood are you using??? The article I read said to use exterior grade but that will not sand well to stain.

My project needs to come out a work of art so my wife will let me build a monster version.

Bear

hahaha i agree with u man. i need my first project to come out a work of art too so my wife will let me build more monster tanks.

Been working on my car yesterday and today so nothing new to report fish related.

Tomarrow is waterproofing day though.

Tonight though it's time for a beer and Bratwurst. Treating myself out tonight since my other dinner reservations fell through.

Let there be waterproofing!

and there was...

one coat

two light coats lightly cured in between with a 3rd heavy coat. It looks amazing.

So i've come to the conclusion that this paint i'm using is very similar if not identical to the rubber base used in the roll on bedliners. I used a product called herculiner on my jeep and it had all the same characteristics of this Insul-x with the exception of the rubber bits added for texture.

Bedliner has been used before so that makes me just a bit more confidant than I was in the success of this stuff.

I don't get the reference. Probably because I've only eaten at McDonalds 3 times in my life. Got food poisoning twice. In 2 states. 3 years apart. And considering all the weird **** I ate in the Army and Mcpuko's still did me in I don't think I'll be going there any time soon.
