330 gallon setup and sump build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Alright so I need some help. The water in the left overflow is much lower than right. It feels like the grate on the right one is bigger allowing more water to fall before the other. So the water goes to the lip of the edrain on the right but has about two inches lower on the left? Next issue is that both edrain bulkheads have a very small drip coming from between both the underside of the overflow and top of the screw on the bulkhead. It's as tight as I can get it by hand. Any ideas?IMG_3122.JPG

Imbalance between the drains isn't that big a deal in the long run. You might have to swap your socks irregularly. Not sure why this might be happening... not super familiar with your build.

You might have some debris between the tank and o-ring. Is the o-ring on the tank side (it should be)?

Looking good!

I guess your right since it is all connected to the same pipe. Might have to just shorten the other drain just in case?

But I thought about that. I need to get last bit of remaining water out before inscrewing it. O-ring is on the tank side. But it's both of the 2" pipes and not the 1.5". It's a little whacky

But thanks! Will look better with lights on next week. Might tweak some rocks in the scape but now it's fine with me

The weir teethe look the same depth, but hard to say in the picture. No reason why they would have made it differently. What if you adjusted the gatevalve on the siphon? You could tweak to get the trickle drain close if you wanted.

All used a wrench on all my bulkheads. I don't go crazy and crank down, but easier to give a snug fit. There's really not enough leverage using just hands for me.

I rechecked the level and it looks like the left side of the tank is a little lower now. A little under a half an inch of difference if I measure the waterline from the top of the tank on both sides. Was perfectly level before the fill. Guess it sank with the foam underneath the wood flooring?

But I think overtightened just need to get the water out of the overflow and unscrew and rescrew

Is the tank still level on a level stand? If not, you've got a big problem and should drain that puppy ASAP and THEN try to figure this out.

I do hand tight and another 1/4 turn with a pair of pliers. If you want to drain the overflow boxes down to the last drop to avoid spills you can use air line to siphon the last bit out. The longer the line drops the faster it drains.

I tried to unscrew and hand tighten and then quarter turn and still dripped. Its just the 2" edrain on both sides. I don't know why it's doing this. Drained the boxes and lowered the water. And tried drying it up the best I can. Going to let it sit until tomorrow night to play around with it. 4/6 bulkheads are fine which makes me question these two
