375 gallon glass tank build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That is one sick looking stand. Do you do carpentry for a living?

This is one of the best builds I have seen. I have always wanted to see an all glass build and what is involved. Most people seem to build the plywood tanks. This is how I would want to do it if ever do. Don't know if I have the skills or the patients. Do you have any previous experience/training with wood working? That stand is great! I built one for my 210 a few years ago and it didn't turn out great. It was plenty sturdy but not as asthetically pleasing as I would have liked. I really cannot wait to see this tank all done and full of fish. I love the Malawian fish also. Keep those pictures coming. GREAT JOB!

True craftsman at work. The columns look fantastic!

Thanks again everyone. I don't do carpentry for a living. My experience is limited to a summer job during college where I helped build decks for a construction company. I also have done random fix ups around my house and built a couple of fish tank stands over the years (but nothing like this). Building a stand like this really isn't that difficult if you take you time and have the right tools. I have a brother-in-law that allowed me to borrow a lot of the tools I needed.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, just about everything I am doing I have stolen from someone else on another forum. The design for this stand is no different. Here is the link to the stand I am modeling mine after: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1446213

This tank has been in the planning stages for at least the past year, probably closer to past 2 years, while I tried to save the funds needed for such a build. So I had a lot of time to read many different threads on different builds and figure out exactly how I wanted to do mine.

I am probably going to stain my stand a golden oak color. While cherry would certainly look nice, my wife wants that stand to match our dining room table and hutch that will be nearby.
