is that too much filtration. i have one just striaght down with no difuser so it doesnt add too much flow. and the other 2 facing into eachother so it doesnt make a whirlpool.
but is that too much flow?
and also what do yall think i should put in each one? i have been playing around with diff stuff and currently one is filled with carbon, the other 2 have filter pad in it and bio balls
i might order a few pounds of ceramic rings to add to one of them and im aslo getting a few bottles of purigen for the chemical one.
i also have pothos growing in the tank to help with nitrates. even tho they stay pretty low. under 5ppm range. but im adding a few more fish soon that might change. hopefully the additional fx5 will help counter act the fish

Seems like a lot of money on canister filters. If you need more filtration, is a sump out of the question? Much cheaper and more efficient.

And also, do you want more flow or need more filtration? If ammonia and nitrites are at 0 then your filtration is fine and you don't need any more. If you want more flow look into some large Koralia powerheads.

IMO.....you can never have enough filtration...especially on a tank that size.....I like your combo of media....

Of course not....if you have money to burn and enjoy looking at all the cool gadgets under your stand.

I know what ya mean.....I have 1 FX5 and 2 other canisters on my 300.......definitely looking for another FX5

id go all mechanical in two of them and a bit of sponge ontop of a ton of bio media. there great for flow

I've got 2 5s running on a 180. Better too much than too little. you can always turn them down a bit if it's too much current.

I agree. FX5 is a great canister but when you get over 200 gallons a sump is really going to be the best bang for your buck and most efficient. There's no problem running the 3 you have and adding a sump, or you could even cut down to 1 or 2 and run the sump as your primary filter.
