3fx5s on a 300??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
haha i agree, a water polisher would be great but i will have that polished water look from a sump and i can change the pad in 2 seconds lol vs an hour with an fx lol
its mostly about ease of maintenance for me now. bc we are having our first child so the easier the better

wow i redid my fx5 on my 93 cube and its looking incredible!!!
i did some medium poly pad cut into circles and did 3 layers with 2 purigen pack in between them and the other 2 baskets has denitrate and ceramic rings

filteration all depends on stock levels but for me you can never have to much filtration

I have two FX5s on my 265 and I think it still needs a bit more flow. it's acceptable for filtration, but it doesn't get everything off the sand in some spots.

Haha, I was on the same exact boat as you at one time...running 2 fx5's and an Ehiem pro on a 360gl. Traded just 1 of the fx5 and sold the ehiem to fund a 125 gallon sump. Best decision ever on filteration. I agree that you should atleast keep 1 fx5 for back up...I myself filled 2 trays with ehiem substrate and the last with purigen. Enjoy the ease with your sump. :)

as fotcrap on the bottom it also depend on the type of fish i have rays that kick the crap up so it never sits in one spot for long

it also depends on decor to much and you will get dead spots

in my tank i have big river stones so im sure alot of poop gets down in there that i dont know about. in the front where i can reach to syphon i get a litte poop but not much.
im sure the extra 1000 gph will make a big dif
