Well after three trips to wally world, all I could find is red :nilly::nilly:. I did use the red's on my aro tank, but my camera sucks and wont pick up the light...

What a great idea! I have lids on all of my tanks so I don't have to worry about them getting wet and electrocuting me. Time for another project!

Since they are indoor/outdoor lights you might not have to worry about that too much.

Great idea!

Very cool idea!

im glad you guys liked it!

yeah, since they are outdoor/indoor, it doesnt matter if they get a little wet, however, i wouldnt submerse them! and make sure you are using a proper drip loop on the cord just in case.

the christmas tree light footswitch worked well too, all i have to do is open the cabinet door and press the switch with my foot.

if you guys cant get them in stores (since its not christmas) its very easy to find them online, just google 'blue led christmas lights'. However, your probably gonna pay between 8 and 15 dollars for them online. being after christmas at walmart made them 50% off (orig. $7.00). and if you plan on using it all the time, buy some extra, the bulbs really dont last that long, however they are rated for 25,000 hours. but you will usually have some fade out or dim after a few months if you use it a lot.

if you can find the rope light, it works even better!

they also have morphing led christmas lights, they have all the colors and they change colors slowly (fading from one color to the next), i want to try that and see how that comes out, sounds interesting! i wonder what the fish would think?

Just as an FYI for anyone interested in doing this; Target has the Philips 9ft blue led rope lights on clearance for $7.19. If not still available at your local store you can order online. Mine should be here on Monday. I'll post some pics of what it looks like with the rope lights when I get them installed.
