my vote is for ceramic media, but it may get expensive for that many sumps! talk to charlie/fish tank factory. he might be able to get you a good deal. and it has tons more surface area than scrubbies, and can be used completely submerged. look into it.

Thats what i did, i spent $93 for 20lbs shipped for my 180g, but like he said it could get quite expensive.

Just suck it up and buy bio balls in quantity. It's a one time thing and they last forever.

Hey when Im going to have already 7k plus invested its hard to suck anything up lol. Do you have a link where I can get bio balls for cheap? And how many per sump? Or do all 3 medias lol!

Im thinking $300.00 will get me 2250 scrubbies which still isnt enough!

That will be way too much, IMO. I had a 100G tub filled with scrubbies, another 40-50G sump and still had 500 or so left out of 1,000. I think you'd be OK with a case (960) of them.

I lost my PW to check pricing. I'll get with you as soon as I find out. PM if you want to make sure it doesn't slip. I'll probably do way better than $300.

7k invested in a ray tank, Sounds like a very nice setup. If it was me, I would want the best possible bio media per dollar value.

20-40 litres of seachem pond matrix combined with some bio balls or pot scrubbies. In all honesty with the matrix you don't even need the other bio media. The matrix will reduce the amount of bio media required due to it's high surface area for bb colonization which makes it extremely efficient. Matrix also has nitrate reducing properties.

I have two identical 125 gallon tanks with the same fish load, both have identical 55 gallon sumps with the same amount of scrubbies. One sump has about 10 pounds of Bio Maxin it along with the scrubbies, the one with the bio max always has better water paramaters, so my thought is are scrubbies as good as everyone makes them out to be.

Thank you ill stay in touch! I am planning on packing these pretty full of scrubbies with a layer of matrix on the bottom and Mechanical on top. What is a good turn over rate for the bio? This will be a drip system on the scrubbies and the matrix will be submerged. I will be running 4000gph through each filter and each tank will be 450 gallons.....Is it smart to do a slower flow rate through the bio or since its drip will it be ok?
