4 large sumps now what for BIO media?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What about putting a bunch of scrap/free craigslist PVC through a wood chipper? :D You could give it a vinegar soak first and a light scrub, then run the sump for a few days to clear out any random leachings. Would probably cost the price of renting the chipper.

20 liters of pond matrix costs about $85. Supposedly adequate for 2000 gallons

I am going to use 20l per sump plus ALOT of scrubbies :screwy:

supposedly, as in the manufacturer claims it's adequate for 2000 gallons. How large are the tanks actually going to be?

How are you deciding what amount to use? No one has bothered to actually test these, as far as I know. 5x more biomedia than you need doesn't do anything.

I have done some limited testing with matrix.

Currently I am on my second week on another tank that has 20 L of pond matrix which has been in the tank for over 6 months in the filtration. Going to test after 2-3-4 week intervals.
