40 years old this year and frustrated

thats the way it goes I suppose. You could always trade in your sedan for a four door truck. The pelican fishing boats can be lifted by two people and are $600 for a 4 person brand new. Only thing to buy is a trolling motor!

Invest in the lottery. You never know, you could win.

I still got 11 years till my 40, but with what I'm good at in life (food) I don't see making more than a few more bucks an hour by then. Hell, if it makes you feel better even if I had the money for a 500gallon set up the weight would crash right though my rotting, rented floors. My kitchen floor is actually bouncey. Me and the woman are trying to _upgrade_ to a 40K prefab house we can put on family owned land.
I'm sure your car could roast my 92' camry 4-banger.
My life doesn't suck so hard though, me and the woman still have alot of fun just goofing around our shanty, and I doubt your life is joyless either.

I actually like small houses better. I don't need a lot of space and I feel weird in a big house. I guess I'm kind of agoraphobic lol. I have simple needs and my future military life should cover them all. I guess I can't really sympathize.

Those guys just have WAY more debt than you do.

I think you are very fortunate to have friends and families that have boats. Boats and swimming pool are 2 items you don't want to own! when you have it, everyone enjoys yours without having to pay for it. :) especially the pool, the liabilities.

The trick is to enjoy 1 hobby at a time. I am fortunate to enjoy 2 right now, Photography and Wet Pets. but if I was to get back into hunting and or fishing I give one of them up or do less of it. Every hobby I venture into, I sold most or all of my used equipment to furnish the new hobby. buy used stuff and make sure you do your homework, so you don't take a big loss on resale.

My friends always wonder how I have money for new hobbies, I tell them its the same $$, I just don't move the $$ to new hobby.

Never the less, right now is the freakin time to get a boat if you have a reliable income. I've seen 30K bass boats selling for half price. and River boats Jesus, even at half price I could not afford one, not unless I sale all my photography equipments, :)
