i do sympathize though. Unfortunately for most of the world, adopting the family life means losing a lot of personal luxuries. We just take the good with the bad. Maybe by 50 you will have that boat. You never know what can happen in a few years.
I consider my self to be an epic penny pincher, here are a few ideas.
1.Get a cheep inflatable boat or kayak. I used to have a kinnda cheep raft, we made a wooden deck for it, loved it.
2. search craigs list for a cheep boat, offer them less than they want. People on craigs list often seriously need the money and are fishing for more than they need, they will take less.
3. Find a fishing buddy, a 30,000$ boat you dont own, is as good as one you do when you fishing off it.
4. Get a fixer upper and make a project with your kids out of it.
Great tips. And don't get me wrong, I appreciate saving money, it's just that, heck i'll say it, i'm jealous of those guys with the nice rigs. I'm happy for them, i'm just jealous!

Post less on MFK and use your free time to get a second job or start your own business... Heck, why not sell a few of your filters from your tanks... ( we know you don't NEED them all, you just like the filtration )
But for real.... When I wanted a new car, I got a second job working a few evenings a week. Took a while, but I saved up for it!!
Maybe you can get a second job at an LFS....
PS. don't really stop posting on MFK, your threads are often quite entertaining....
From my experience if we are unhappy before we get that dream house or boat we will probably find another thing to be unhappy about after we do get it. Those dream items don't seem to solve my problems. The grass is always greener.
