i towed a 16foot 70 horse power fiberglass boat with a little 2005 murcury sable ls. trust me people laughed out loud but hey i had a boat.

btw just sold the 16 footer for a 14foot alumium boat. ill never go to fiberglass again.

Just thought of something. Instead of a plywood tank, build a plywood boat?

i believe you've considered picking up a second job, i don't believe you've considered anything paying minimum wage. i know you've got more pride then that, we're all worth more then minimum wage
Eh, we are all worth more than minimum wage, but jobs don't pay what the people are worth, they pay what it takes to get someone somewhat competent and/or attractive to show up. If people got payed what they are worth a lot of us wouldn't be working-class. Many of the top 1% would be.
I do a few hours at minimum wage just to keep my cooking chops up while I pay the bills with selling produce.

i guess my pride just won't allow myself to work for the minimum. you can find basic general labor stocking shelves or janitor work for more then minimum wage in most states. i don't foresee any scenario where i give in and say yeah, you can pay me the least amount possible.

oh well, back to dreaming about a boat

An yes this whole thread is a personal rant on how my fishing enjoyment is curtailed by my modest pay at my modest job.

The problem is the "job" mentality. If you want to be above average you have to think above average. If you REALLY wanted a boat you would do what it takes to get one!

Plywood and epoxy boat? No? Everyone is just going to ignore me?

No joke, try writing a book, about anything, you seem like its the kind of thing you'd be good at.

I dont know if you want this or not but for 200 dollars you can get everything you need for fly fishing, waders, rod, reel vests etc. How old are your kids?

I can't really sympathize that much, but I guess sometimes I feel in a similar way (just on a much smaller scale). I turn 20 in January, and I never enjoy my birthdays as much as somebody my age should. I constantly worry about finances in the future, even though I am fortunate enough to have parents who help me out a LOT.

I do have a small scenario about my brother when he owned a boat though. He works at a printing press 12 hour shifts at least 5 days a week, with shifts either from 8pm to 8am or 8am to 8pm, depending on the day, and when he owned a boat (before he got married) he lived in a trailer. He was relatively happy, he had a nice truck and nice boat, but one can only live that kind of lifestyle for so long. Right before he got married he moved out to a small but comfortable house, and then once he was married and had a couple kids the fact that his wife doesn't work (lazy ass) caught up with him, and he ended up selling his boat. I have a lot of great memories going out with him fishing, but at the end of the day you gotta do what you gotta do. Enjoy the fact that you have friends/family that have the boats, because for most people (unless they're making a significant amount of money) really have to choose between the lifestyle of having a nice boat and making themselves happy, or having a family.

I kinda wish he went with making himself happy. Haha
