500 Gallon Peacock Bass Aquarium

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks great hope I can do that good when I have to do the same.

Finally completed the first round of polishing the entire aquarium. Next turning to the specific scratch removal before using the fine scratch polish on the entire aquarium again.

I was able to find a bonnet that works, so the last side took me at least half as long as it would have by hand.

Time to start working on some Sketchup drafts of the woodwork in more detail!

No updates on buffing, had to put things on hold for in-laws visit this coming week.

However, I am planning to stock with 12 WC orinos from snookn21, but since they are only 1.5" I will be doing a smaller growout before introducing to the large tank.

So the question I would like to pose, is the following:

Option 1)

I have the items on hand to setup a 10 gallon (filtered by a really dialed down FX5 :screwy:) and be "that guy" with crazy filtration. Would this work for a bit? Say till 3"? Next I would move on to using the large aquarium, but not at full water height till 4" or so.

Option 2)

Purchase another tank for a growout, have my eye on a used 75 gallon. Then the transition could be 10g, to 75g to the 500g. Then the 75 could become my water resevoir for automatic water top off?

or a growout for later additions...:naughty:

Would there be any problem with the first option as it won't cost anything?

12 orinos are going to out grow the 500 in two years.......

Still on the fence about getting another tank...not true MFK spirit I know.

Yes, in the long term I am only planning 8-9, 3 are going to a co-worker who is setting up a 300g.

great color

you could probably sell the tank after your done with it. Maybe for what you paid for it?

I ordered the orinos from snookn21, so....setting up a fairly ghetto 29 gallon "mini" growout with extra tank materials (FX5, PFS, wood, rocks, fake plants) I had laying around. Cinderblocks and MDF (and yes I know MDF sucks for water). Pics later. Prime, stability, 88F, salt and ridiculous turnover rate here we come!
