500 Gallon Salt Tank EXPLODED !!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
holy crap! im sorry to hear this, but im glad all the fish lived... can you imagine what they were thinking when it happened? lol

Did the acrylic break or did the silicone fail????? This is what my bride said would cause a divorce......210 gallons of water on our living room floor.

OMG! That is horrible!

not good. i have had a tank crack on me before. no where near as big as that and mine done a lot of damage...

That's crazy, Good thing no one was in front of it. 500 gallons of water must cause one heck of a force.

wow that is scary! makes you think twice about getting a custom built tank thats not from a reputable company (not sure who this one was from)

Fear of something like this happening is the very reason all my tanks are in the basement with a drain in the floor.

That's my worst nightmare come to life! I'm terified of coming home and finding 180 gal all over the floor or hearing a 'boom' of it going in the night! (just to add to the fun, mine does have a patched crack.................)

At least all the fish survived ok and no-one in the hospital was hurt......... anymore than they already were anyway!

Mike:
Do you work for Clayton Aquarium?
My wife works as an RN at the ER in Overlake. She told me about that tank in the lobby that exploded. She told me they got a call because people were picking up the fish and getting injured. Also there was a possiblity of electricution!! I have seen that tank many times. Whenever I pick-up my wife, I would sit next to it and stare and think about what I would put in a tank that big.
