523 gallon plywood build (pic heavy)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just read all 17 pages and I have to say you built an amazing tank and basement. The tank is beautiful as is your rock work. I was glad to see you went back to the Africans. They are gorgeous.

Sent from my mind to my fingers to my phone to the MFK servers to you

It looks wonderful!! I am so pleased to have followed this thread as you built it. You will be my guide for my upcoming project. I plan to build three side by side 74 gallon aquariums.

I notice there is no salvinia. Did it become chiclid snacks? ;)

Thanks for all the work you put into updating for us!

I've just read through it all - thanks for updating and bringing this back to life.

Always disappointing when you're 10 - 20 pages into a build and the OP disappears, i have my tank zero maintenance like yours and it makes the hobby so much more enjoyable i have to say!

Nice work, keep the updates coming.

Hi Stempy, Just found this thread again.. Glad it's still working well (as of your last update).

Still going strong, recently turned it saltwater its going to be a reef tank. Been salt for a couple months so still cycling and what not but tank itself looks like I built it yesterday :) when I emptied it and removed the sand I checked for any kind of stress fractures or cracks and it was still flawless after a year of use.

Had to change everything since it was going reef, spent $2500 in new filters, lighting and equipment......then my job changed my duties to where I work a lot of hours and have to travel now so for 3 months I had my dream tank and now am in the process of tearing it down since I would not have the time to properly care for a reef tank :( :( But the silver lining is africans have always been my favorite so I am setting it up now as a completely automated malawi tank again so my wife wont have to mess with it while Im away :)

Here it is as it went salt....
