530g Tank Setup and Plumbing Help :)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Forgot to say this is one of the most difficult projects I’ve done and probably the most difficult physical job. I’m not handy at all and this has been a huge undertaking for me. I would really like to thank JK47 JK47 and others that have given me support. There were several times over the last 1.5 weeks that I wanted to quit and just do hmf. Almost there.

Happy to help man and very happy to see you with such a nice setup. You will certainly be glad you went this route once the setbacks die down.

Yes but was this after you had a leak? I have a leak for both intake and return and think I need to completely redo the sealant.
After. I undid the unions and reapplied the rectorseal.

Tank temperature is up around 79. I think my Eheim pumps are adding heat to the water. My water is kind of cloudy. Hard to tell. There are lots of bubbles and a bluish tinge to the water. Not sure if there is something up with the water or it’s just colored due to so much water.

JK47 JK47 when you try to control the gph on the reeflo do you just turn down the ball valve on the return or the intake? I think return.

Well turned on the filters and will let it run for a bit. The extra cement around the elbow did not help. I will have to try the Weldon when it arrives.

We will see if the sealant on the reeflo works.

New annoying item is that I guess I did not get rid of some of the lose thread sealant or had too much as a bunch of pieces if sealant are now floating in the tank :(

Discovered a new pinhole leak out of the middle return. Will need to wait for the Weldon 16 to fix.

Advice to folks, avoid putting such a large tank in the corner. It’s almost impossible for me to service half the tank without getting into it.

Yes alway choke the return, never the inlet

Support lines are in place. Need to do some clean up because I had to use some tape to tighten the support lines. No need to get the 24/7 drip intake/return completed, perform wiring clean up, and some other minor stuff.

Well tank seems to be running well. Two small leaks to fix that will be taken care of tomorrow when I receive the Weldon.

One new surprising item is how much heat these pumps add to the tank. Between the two Eheim and the reeflo the water temperature is sitting at 81 when room temperature is 72-73. I had heated the tank to 77 and the heaters have risen the temp 4 degrees over a couple days. Hopefully when I get the cold water drip running, it balances out.
