530g Tank Setup and Plumbing Help :)

Do not cement loc line. Pads look great. Did you use thread sealant on the Reeflo? Looks awesome so far!!!

Not yet, I will. I’m trying to dry fit everything and make sure it’s exactly as I want it before I make anything permanent.

I ordered female adapters to connect to my bulkheads so that I can use the threaded connectors for the locline.

Any thoughts on magnets that I use for my powerheads? Not sure if I can even do just an external magnet with the delivered powerheads magnet that is internal to the tank.

Home Depot usually has magnet stuff over on the aisle with door handles and hinges etc.. take something the same thickness as your and test it before you buy it.

I picked up a large hydor coralia and it works ok the 3/4” acrylic on my tank.

I second the thread sealant for the pump.

Love the black PVC. Looking real good there N nzafi

Lastly, when you dry fit, understand that the pvc will not fill all the way to the rim when fitting with primer and solvent. If there is a 1 1/2” of room in the joint, calculate 1 1/4”. Remeber to use a sharpie pen to mark when you’ll join them to get your measurements just right.

One more thing, I used flex PVC where I had odd angles and used plenty of solvent. It comes in black. I used it in an area where I had tough angles to work.

So far I think I can avoid tough angles. I am worried now with what you have said about the primer taking up space. In most places this will be irrelevant for me, except for the two horizontal lines where I’m splitting the returns or joining the two intakes. Hopefully there is enough give that it doesn’t matter. Still need to watch a YouTube video on how to do it properly.

I will be using thread sealant on the reeflo. I bought the same sealant and tape that jk47 used on his reeflo and ultima.

I’m hoping to finish all plumbing tomorrow and maybe start cementing it.

How much space did you leave from the top of your tank?

mrrobxc mrrobxc what hydor did you pick up? My problem is that my tunze are very low wattage, compact to fit behind the hmf and have a “spout” that all water is directed through.

As long as you mark with a sharpie you can be really accurate and it gets easier with each pipe you put together.

As for space, what do you mean?

There are more powerful models. I just needed a little extra flow.

What’s the distance from your water line to the top of your tank? In my glass tanks I used to fill up just past the rim, but without a rim I’m not sure how high I should go.

Almost way to the top. I found some short abs 90 degree elbows that I have turned facing up and welded into place. Perfect water pevel
