So you thing bulkheads with union fittings in the middle of um would be best then? I was thinking that too but was trying to stay cheaper then 3" bulkheads those are $$s kinda sucks

Yup thats how I've seen them done and how my father does it. He used uniseals before but leaked eventually. Tons of people do this for rain barrels for plants and etc. Watch this video and it will be so much easier since your barrel should be open top and not closed like the video.

Yeah you can buy it like that. Depends on your use though. Most people use it for media for sponges, bioballs, ceramic rings but now since K1 has been more popular this would be a better solution. There is a local guy who sells these barrels for 30-40 bucks.

Yeah not close to me in socal tho sucks I've been trying to find some locally bit everything's like 2 -3 hour drives to places that have them not going to work for me going that far bummer might have to order something instead

Has anyone used silicone to secure pvc between 55 gallon barrels and does it work ok? I'm thinking I can silicone each side to the barrel and union fit each of them too the center that way I can separate them for cleaning if ever need be?

I'm planning on using one barrel for the moving bed filter connecting that to the second one with a drip over wetdry filter. The having a 3rd tank as a security over flow for when the power goes out it won't over fill and spill on my floors has anyone built one like this or anything similar to make sure it doesn't over fill itself

Question about pvc piping!! Does anyone know is cellular core abs is fish safe? Or do I need somethi nf that states water safe or potable water on the pipe? Just curious cause its about half the price but I don't want to kill my fish in a long term filtration system um building out of 55 gallon barrels? I just curious if anyone has experienced this or not ?

You need to use white pvc either dwv or potable
