I have a fully cycled 55 gallon tank and I'm planning on making it a predator tank and housing 1 or 2 fish for life. I'm not sure what to put in it. I live in Georgia. Currently I'm thinking of a hi fin red wolf or a mala wolf. But I'm sure there are plenty of other options. I'm thinking of a dwarf pike or snake head but I've heard that they're both illegal in georgia

Isn't it safe to house a smaller species of wolf fish in a 55? I've also heard that you can house some green terrors, a single flower horn, or even a few African cichlids

A single red wolf or purple in a 55g is fine by itself. Other wolves will need a larger tank size....bigger than 55g.

How big would a mala need? And could you suggest any other fish? Or is a small wolf really my only option?

Mala will need a good 100g or bigger. If 55g is all u can get and u want a wolf fish then red, purple or white Sean are ur options.

Can keep some smaller leaf fish, some polys, barbs, planted shrimp tank, etc.

I think you have to narrow it down as you've mentioned fish that are vastly different. Can't get an idea of what U like.

Honestly I just like the more aggressive predatory fish that are fun to watch eat. I might be able to pick up a 75 gallon eventually. But right now all I have is the 55gal. And predator wise. I guess I'm fine with either singular predators or small group predators. How many African cichlids could fit in a 55?
