Im new to the forums, and I would like to know what kind of predatorial fish can fit in a 55-60 gallon tank (fully grown). Arowanas, flowerhorns, and clownknives are out of the picture . I would really appreciate answers quickly because im getting either of the tanks in a few days. Thanks in advanced! :headbang2

what the footprint for the 60? I am not sure Ps are legal in HI most warm weather states they are not. Another thing is make sure you let the tank cycle before you put fish in it. this take a couple of weeks to a month so you have time to get your stock right. as for a pred. for a 55 for life. thats a toss up you'll have to look into what your state will alow you to have.

The state allows anything but jardini, other asian arowana, and piranah. The rest of the fish are okay to have im pretty sure. I was thinking about getting oscars, but the with the tank being as small as it is, they wont have a substansial amount of room to live. They get gigantic too. My friend suggested green terrors, but ill wait and see what other members on this forum suggest. My father (aquarium expert), suggested that I get fish that arent hard to care for such as pearl gouramis, bala sharks, clown loaches e.t.c. All of the fish that have the potential to get pretty big over time and are also pretty good looking for a community tank. Chichlids were also a suggestion that I havent yet taken into consideration, because They can fit into the small 20g tank, which I was planning on using as a feeder fish tank.
As for the 60 gallon tank, it could be anything, but because im considering getting semi agressive fish that arent that big, itll be the tank that is more heightwise rather than an 18 inch high, fatty tank. It could be anything though. Now I just pretty much want to know what predatory fish can fit into a 55-60 gallon tank, with no piranah.

jardini are legal in Hawaii where did you get the info that they were illegal?
get a school of exodons they won't out grow your tank and look like little piranha when they tear apart a feeder.

The info came from a website, which im now unsure if it is entireley correct, and the exodons are a good suggestion because it slips through the loophole of illegality in Hawaii. Im pretty sure the local fish shops arent going to stock them though, because they are so similar to said piranah, (What my friend said that works for a fish store). He suggested oscars, but in a wide 55 or 60 gallon tank, instead of a tall one.

And mercury904, I cant understand what you posted as a suggestion. "School Paradaxus"? Clear up please?
Thanks for the responses so far. Keep em comin.

well the website and your friend are both wrong. jardinis come in every month and I have seen exodons at a number of shops.

Well, for the jardini's, I cant even fit them into the tank so why bother, and the exodons are a good suggestion now that the fog surrounding the legality of them is cleared. But, red aro's are illegal here in H-land right? Wait....Youve seen exodons at a number of shops, are you from Hawaii also?
