I was actually thinking of putting in a more common cichlid (ie firemouth) but I figured it would beat on everyone. I've never heard of a bumblebee cat fish...google here I come!

Firemouths are actually pretty peaceful as far as cichlids go. They dont grow too large either. Jewel Cichlids and convicts stay small too, but they can be on the aggressive side.

imo you'll be fine with your 400 and good water changes. You aren't having a huge bioload with the fish on your list. Plants will help too. Keep it simple, it's more fun that way.

Thanks for all the comments everyone! :) The more I think about this tank the more I want to make it a Biotope tank, or try to at least. I might make it a Biotope from Sumatra if I can find a decent list of fish, so far all I have is the Tiger barb lol

emp400's are junk. Worst filter I have ever owned. AC110 is best bang for your buck when it comes to HOB's

Alright so I found a few Native Sumatra fish heres my tiny list:

Tiger Barb
Harlequin rasbora
Clown Loach
Siamese Flying Fox?
Glass Catfish?
Checkered Barb
Three Lined/Scissor tail Rasbora
Dwarf Rasbora

If anyone has some more that they can add that would be awesome!

Unless you have to go drop the 60 bucks for one on a tank that doesn't really need it at this point. 400's are great for light loads like the op is planning, not so good for heavy bodied fish that crap a ton.

I would not suggest mixing the clowns, barbs, scissortails and tiger barbs with glass catfish and dwarf rasboras. The dwarf rasboras are best kept by themselves. Why not just replace the clowns with kuhlis or sids and erase the dwarf rasboras off your list?

I never said I was using them but I suppose I should have clarified, sorry lol I think I might go with this stocking:

13 Tiger Barbs
9 Harlequin Rasboras
5 Clown Loaches (I do plan on trading them for smaller Clowns every so often)
3 Glass Catfish (Possibly!)

I'll probably end up bumping up the numbers of Barbs and Rasboras. I wasn't able to find out if the khuli was from Sumatra or not and whats a sid? some other kind of loach?
