I would do an african theme with smaller bichir(s), ctenopoma, brown knife, butterfly. That would be cool.

yea that would I think im going to get some kind of knife fish but now I need something to patrol the midle to top of the tank

If you choose a smaller knife species, Hatchetfish are awesome. Keep 4" clear at the top, might even see some true powered flight!

A needlenose there cool commonly called needle nose gar,rocket gar but not a real gar but looks like it fun to watch it feeders but breed it own they get about a foot long but very skinny 2 would be cool for the top of your tank

Seriously...awful suggestions. Not one of those fish is small enough to live in a 55 for life...some wouldn't last more than a few months.
